Semi-retired now and spend more time on my bicycle for new adventures and challenges. So far, I have been cycling many kilometres in Australia, Europe and Japan.
Highlights have been climbing Alpe D’Huez in France and cycling 7 weeks on my touring bike in Japan.
Mission Completed / End of a Journey
During Covid, I came across a YouTube video of three guys cycling the length of Japan. I thought, “That’s something I’d like to do,” and began training for it. And that’s how it all started—by tackling one goal after another, each harder to achieve than the last, often doubting whether I could complete the next challenge.
March 9, I finished the Peaks Challenge (235 km and 4,500 meters of climbing) in under 10 hours. I achieved something I once thought was impossible. But all the training to meet this milestone pushed my body to its limits, so it’s time to take a well-deserved break.

Peaks Challenge:
The 3 Peaks Challenge provides cyclists with one of the world’s toughest and most picturesque cycling challenges.
The 234km course is so epic it can be compared with the toughest Stages in the Tour de France. It has three major climbs; Tawonga Gap, Mt. Hotham and the beast that is the back of Falls Creek!
